6.2/10

I recently stayed at The Spectator Hotel, and my experience was a mix of highs and lows. While the location was convenient and the room decor was lovely, the service was frustratingly inconsistent and often lacking. I had issues with check-in, communication from staff, and the overall upkeep of the room. Given the high price of the stay, I expected much more in terms of a seamless experience and attentive service.

Rooms
5.0
The room had beautiful decor, but some maintenance issues disrupted my comfort, like a loud air conditioner and a bathroom door that creaked painfully.
Service
5.0
While the staff were friendly, the lack of effective communication, especially around room issues, was disappointing.
Location
6.0
The hotel is centrally located, making it easy to explore Charleston, though the immediate area felt a bit sketchy at night.
Dining

The 'continental breakfast' was limited to a basket of pre-made items, which didn't meet my expectations for the price.
Facilities

Lacking a kitchen or spa, the hotel felt a bit limited in terms of amenities, which was disappointing considering the price point.

My stay at The Spectator Hotel was a mix of good service and a couple of small hiccups. The butler service was perfect and really made breakfast in bed special, though I faced some issues with my coffee not being hot on a couple of mornings. Also, I did notice some construction noise early one morning, but the staff were responsive once I brought it up. Overall, the staff's friendliness and the hotel's central location made my stay enjoyable.

My stay at The Spectator Hotel was an absolute delight. The elegant room design and luxurious amenities, including plush bedding and high-end toiletries, really set the tone for a special experience. I did encounter a minor hiccup with drink pours at the bar, which felt a bit on the lighter side considering the hotel's overall excellence. Nevertheless, I can confidently say this is a place I would return to without hesitation.

The room was very spacious and beautifully designed. The marble bathroom was a particular highlight, complete with all the luxury toiletries I could want. I also appreciated the charming Charleston snacks provided.

The hotel's location was perfect. I could easily walk to shops and excellent dining options in the heart of Charleston, which added to my overall satisfaction.
Dining

Breakfast in bed was a wonderful experience. I filled out a form the night before, and it was delivered right to my room. While the quality was good, it didn't quite match the really good dining options around Charleston.
Facilities

The complimentary evening cheese reception was a good touch, alongside the snacks in the room that were replenished regularly. I also enjoyed the unique nightcap offered during the turndown service.

I recently stayed at The Spectator Hotel, and while the experience had its highlights, there were some drawbacks too. The location is fantastic, right in the heart of historic Charleston, and the staff truly exemplify attentive service. However, I did find the noise from nearby construction and a loud neighboring room a bit disruptive during my stay. Overall, it’s a lovely hotel, but I would recommend asking for a quiet room when booking.

Rooms
8.0
My room was spacious and beautifully designed, featuring a comfortable bed and a well-appointed bathroom with a heated towel rack. However, I did note that the bathroom was nearly the same size as the room itself.
Service
9.0
The staff really made my stay enjoyable. My butler was attentive and brought breakfast right on time, which I appreciated. They offered complimentary snacks and were proactive in assisting with my needs. That said, I did have an issue with the elevator, which was broken during checkout.
Location
10.0
The hotel is perfectly situated for exploring Charleston, with beautiful landmarks and dining options within walking distance. This was definitely a highlight of my stay.
Dining
7.0
I enjoyed the in-room breakfast that was included, though I found the selection to be a bit basic and not particularly inspired. But the convenience of having it served in my room was a plus.
Facilities
7.0
While the hotel offers a lovely bar and butler service, I did notice that the fitness facilities are located at a partner hotel next door. This was a slight inconvenience but not a major setback.
